Quotes of My Own

Quotes of My Own
~ by Michael Marcotte

(No doubt, I must be a legend in my own mind. Now, if only I could get inside yours!)

Life is all about Mind over Reality.

Reality can seriously distort one's perception.

Many great successes come from simply not knowing any better.
Reality is only stable until somethig changes it.

The impossible and the unknown are the incubators of creation, innovation and invention.

Time eventually favors discovery over history.

the square root of the impossible = something new

People who say that they will miss you, have apparently made plans not to see you again!

If God is dead, he must have gone out with an awfully Big Bang!

Principle is the underlying truth, basis or foundation for a system of belief or behavior.
Standing on principle can reveal you to be an utter fool, unless that principle is supported
by solid reason, demonstrable validly, actual statistics, proven fact, or at least personal experience.
In the absence of all of the above, one must stand on faith, not principle.
It is marginally better to be a faithful fool than a complete one!

Bending over backwards is not a sustainable position.

A truly open mind exists in a perpetual state of cognitive dissonance.
To live in such a state is certainly challenging, but after all, a mind
WITHOUT questions or change is a fair definition of simple-mindedness,
which is by far the lesser option.

A friend who is a psychoanalyst once told me that I should problably not mention
that I hear voices in my head, but I assured him that I don't pay those voices much
attention, anyway, on account of them always arguing with one another.

Tradition is an absolutely horrible strategic plan.

(I realize that publicly posting my own "quotes" may be seen as pretty narcisstic. This page is, however, buried relatively deep within my site, so I do not know how you found it, except by accident. Mostly, I keep track of these as ideas\clips that I can use...or have used, in writing magazine or e-zine articles, fictional works-in-progress, or in spoken presentations, at work, or at technology seminars, Sunday School classes, or other topical presentations.)
