August 3, 2013, 2-4 p.m., at All Saints Catholic School gym (just north of NW 36th & Tecumseh), in Norman, Oklahoma, there will be an informal Marcotte get-together for the families\descendants of Joe and Lena (Moisant) Marcotte. This will be an informal, pot-luck cookies and snacks, lemonade and tea -type affair, celebrating family, as well as Leveda (Carroll) Faulkner's 80th birthday. There is also playground equipment outside for the kids, weather permitting, and we will not really have to be out by 4 p.m., in case some wish to visit a while longer. (St. Mark's Catholic Church, just up the street has a 5:00 p.m. Mass for those wanting to attend a Saturday evening Mass).
The school is located on the Northwest corner of Aunt Selena & Uncle Bill Carroll's former property. Sister Maria (Faulkner) is planning on having some large containers of lemonade and tea (you are welcome to bring additional soft drinks; but no alcoholic beverages on school property, please), and we are asking family to bring cookies or similar snacks, rather than attempting a full-fledged reunion and meal like many in the past. We are also planning some musical entertainment. Rick Marcotte will sing a couple of songs, and Betty Thompson (Miss Oklahoma 2011, and first runner-up at Miss America 2012) will do some Irish dancing like she used to win the prelim talent competition at Miss America. Anyone else wishing to provide some talent entertainment is welcome to do so, or just bring along your musical instrument and join in an informal jam session with some of your cousins!
Also, feel free to bring a Wahoo\marble board, dominoes or other games!
Come visit with your Aunts, Uncles and many cousins, and help us celebrate Leveda's 80th birthday!
