Labradoriteis a type of feldspar mineral that has a chemical formula
of (Ca,Na)(Al,Si)4O8123. It is named after the Labrador peninsula in Canada,
where it was first discovered. Labradorite can display an iridescent effect
called labradorescence, which is caused by the reflection of light from thin
layers of minerals in its structure. Labradorite is usually found in igneous
rocks such as basalt and gabbro, as well as in metamorphic rocks and sediments.
It has a triclinic crystal system and a pinacoidal habit. It can have various
colors, such as gray, white, green, blue, or brown. (source: Wikipedia)
