This website is meant to illustrate the ancestries of various Marcotte forbearers� including those of French Canadian and Acadian origins. Regarding Acadian genealogy, it is in no way meant to serve as a reference source. I have not personally traveled to Acadia\Nova Scotia to perform research on any Acadian ancestor. Most (not all) of my materials for these individuals have been derived from other internet sites and not primary sources, unlike most references for individuals surnamed Marcotte and certain more-closely related Qu�bec lines. I have, nonetheless, attempted as much as was possible to utilize Acadian information for which there is archival support. Pages discussing speculative and increasingly controversial M�tis\Amerindian lineages, which mention various archival or research sources reflect my personal, informed, albeit subjective opinion, and should not be construed to be an expert rebuttal of any professional researcher or institutional archive. For an authoritative reference of Acadian genealogies, I recommend that you consult Stephen White�s Dictionnaire g�n�alogique des familles acadiennes. For an authoritative reference
of French-Canadian (Qu�bec) genealogies, I would recommend the late Ren� Jett�s Dictionnaire g�n�alogique des familles du Qu�bec, the University of Montreal�s Programme de recherche en d�mographie historique (PRDH), which is accessible on-line, or Denis Beauregard�s Dictionnaire g�n�alogique de nos origins, much of which is also available on-line at Denis� www.francogene.com website.
