 This symbol denotes that the individual is a direct blood descendant of Charles Marcotte of Fecamp, Normandy, via either son Jacques or son Nicolas.
The others are related to my own Marcotte line via one of the Marcotte spouses, who are also my direct ancestors, but not necessarily an ancestor of ALL Marcottes. There is still a good chance that they, too, may be blood-related to a
majority of French Canadians, due to the small number of early 17th century French colonists in New France, from whom come the vast majority of the total pool of our possible French Canadian ancestors.
